If you’re searching out proof that station wagons aren’t dead, just take one to examine the handsome, long-roofed New Volvo V60: Practicality has never been sexier. In proper Volvo fashion, both a standard wagon and a Cross Country variation are offered. The latter of which takes on the Audi A4 Allroad with its greater rugged appearance, greater ground clearance, and widespread all-wheel drive. In each guise, the V60 wagons provide the upscale look of the V90 and V90 Cross Country but in size small.

But don’t suppose that Volvo has discarded the other half of its DNA: safety. This V60 continues you swaddled securely in a ball of high-tech cotton wool, ready as it is with some of the bang-up to date anti-crash gadgets that we’ve seen inside the larger Volvo models. Cars with which the underpinnings of the V60 stock, along with a number of its engines.
Take the Volvo V60’s front give up for example. Its extensive grille, subtle creases, and Thor’s Hammer headlights make it look just like a baby V90. It looks pretty sharp at the back too, way to a few huge ‘L’-shaped brake lighting fixtures and a set of real exhaust pipes. In contrast to the horrid fake chrome gadgets you get in a Mercedes C-Class property and Audi A4 Avant.
There isn’t any fakery within the Volvo V60’s cabin, either. You get lots of plush leather, cold-to-the-touch aluminum, and even non-compulsory driftwood trims. Which all appear to be they belong on the partitions of a swanky Stockholm cocktail bar.
Inside, it’s a reasonably business-like atmosphere, with tactile substances and stable construct quality. However, the darker color options virtually do make it cave-like. And, whilst the portrait-orientated infotainment gadget touchscreen is huge and looks cool, its menu shape is frustratingly confusing.
